My newest post is a Nightingale exclusive. It starts off as a review of a Tableau webinar I attended back in February. It ends with me coming to the realization that the digital data communities out there today are a force like nothing I’ve experienced before. And when that force hit me, it brought me to tears.
Groups like my #datafam, the R communities, the Python communities, the others – they have the ability to create positive change in the world. If sharing the privilege of knowledge is empowerment, then truly there is power in these groups of people. They can share knowledge so clearly, so visually, and have it hit so viscerally. And when they do, they can do amazing things, like pick up where a person left off 121 years ago, and bring back to life a hopeful message of a burgeoning people, looking to grow.
Special thanks to Allen Hillery, for taking the time to talk to me about what happened the day he facilitated the webinar. Also, thanks go to Sekou Tyler for being one of the #DuBoisChallenge creators, Jason Forrest for sharing your journey into the past, and Anthony J Starks for equipping us with today’s tools of data empowerment.
Let’s see where data can take us next.
